Program Information

Children’s Village Academy’s 21st Century Community Learning Center

September 2014

Dear Parent or Guardian,

Congratulations! Your child is eligible to participate in an exciting, new learning experience that is free to children in our community. This new after school program offers free help with homework, free tutoring in reading, math and science and free transportation to and from the program, as well as transportation home when the program ends each day. We want your child to succeed.

Our goal is to help them do well on the End-of-Grade (EOG) tests, graduate and be prepared for high school, college and future jobs. That’s why we’ve worked hard to bring this brand new program to Children’s Village Academy focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM): the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC). Registration is now open for the current school year. Through the CCLC after-school program, your child will get the extra one-on-one tutoring from CVA mentors that he or she needs to do well on the EOG tests while participating in fun recreational activities with classmates.

Students who take part in this fun-filled learning adventure will get to explore our STEM lab, filled with tablets, computers, microscopes and more. During the summer, students will go on hiking trips, visit science labs and get the chance to meet and learn from scientists, engineers and computer experts. The program has something for parents too. Join 21st Century Parents twice a month for free workshops on topics like budgeting, bullying, and violence prevention. Parents can also use the parent library resource center with computers. We’re extremely excited about this opportunity, and hope that you are too.

Learn more about the 21st Century Community Learning Center in our brochure. Space is limited, so register today. Call Janice Jackson at 252.520.4536 for additional information.
